故事發生在遙遠的小島，時間不詳，大約是跨海傳教活動開始興盛中期，一位傳教士被派發到島上執行任務，當天為他所舉辦的迎客祭典，只是第一個衝擊而已。在原始與文明的反覆辯論下，他開始好奇宇宙的組成規則好像與被教導的現實有著極大的差距。
